DFW NIGP AWARD PROGRAM

Honoring Excellence in the Field of Public Procurement
The DFW NIGP Member Awards are designed to showcase our member’s exemplary service and outstanding accomplishments and contributions to their entity, the Chapter, and the profession. Members may nominate a peer for an award or self-nominate.

Award Criteria Assessment is based on the nominee’s involvement at the Community, Agency, Chapter/Regional/National and Institute (NIGP) level. The nominations shall be supported by documentation reflecting the nominee’s public procurement activity within the previous calendar year. 

The nominee may have demonstrated any of the following characteristics:
•    Supporter of public procurement organizations, education, and professional development
•    Demonstrated passion for the public procurement profession and for the vision and mission of DFW NIGP
•    Demonstrated high ethical and moral standards in accordance with the NIGP Code of Ethics
•    Demonstrated innovative initiatives to further the profession


Procurement Manager of the Year


The Manager of the Year Award recognizes public procurement professionals who have supervisory or management responsibilities. Nominees must be public procurement professionals who have supervisory or management responsibilities. The awardee must be a current member of DFW NIGP.

Public procurement manager functions shall include:
  • Responsibility of overall procurement/material management activities in a specific governmental entity, including supervising procurement personnel or displaying executive abilities involving financial, technical, statistical, legal, and administrative attributes
  • A management position that is either totally dedicated to the procurement function or shared with other responsibilities.

Procurement Professional of the Year


The Procurement Professional of the Year Award recognizes individuals who made significant contributions to the profession. Nominees must be procurement professionals who have little or no supervisory or management responsibilities. The awardee must be a current member of DFW NIGP.

The procurement professional’s function shall include one or more of the following responsibilities:
  • Evaluating offers
  • Selecting vendors
  • Shipping, handling and receiving
  • Vendor relations
  • Inventory and warehousing
  • Developing and issuing bid
  • Contract administration provisions
  • Purchasing customer support
  • Following up to ensure timely delivery
  • Preparing the contract or purchase order
  • Reviewing specifications and requirements
  • Arriving at fair and reasonable contract price terms and conditions

Volunteer of the Year

The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes public procurement professionals within the Chapter who have contributed significantly through volunteer efforts for the advancement of the profession, chapter/regional/national organization, or other public procurement professional works. The awardee must be a current member of DFW NIGP.
